Copa Cabana Rio

What is the Copa Cabana? This is a world famous borough within the city of Rio de Janeiro well known for its world famous 4km beach that attracts many tourists throughout the year. It is so popular in fact that even though it is only a district in a much bigger place, it contains sixty three hotels and ten hostels alone. Walking around Rio, you will find the Copa Cabana when you reach Princesa Isabel Avenue, as it runs from there to Poso Seis (also known as lifeguard watchtower six). The fun won't end upon leaving either, with more beaches outside of it, including the Arpoador beach, which is famous for its waves.

The borough is named after the Virgin of Copacabana, the patron saint of Bolivia, after a replica of the statue was housed in a chapel from 1892. If you visited the place before this, it would have gone by the name Sacopenapa.

With its location in Rio de Janeiro, which lies between mountains and beaches (lending to its nick name Cidade Maravilhosa, or Marvellous City), this is a world famous, popular location.
